Juicy Pork Chops are one of my favorite main courses to make, and I love having a lot of great options to choose from for side dishes. Delicious Pork Chops should always be accompanied by the perfect side dish.
Pork Chops are a lean protein, and when cooked perfectly, they are a great option for an easy dinner on busy weeknights. A variety of side dishes go well with pork chops. My favorite pork chop recipe for Barbecue Pork Chops cooks in a cast iron skillet and uses boneless pork chops. It’s a great recipe that cooks quickly for an easy meal, any night of the week.
My favorite side dishes to serve with a pork chop dinner nearly always contain a vegetable and something starchy, like potatoes or rice. While pork chops are a fairly inexpensive main course, they are so easy to jazz up into a fancier meal with minimal effort.
Delicious side dishes are a great way to elevate a juicy pork chop dinner to make a meal that the whole family will love. For an easy weeknight dinner, you can prepare some easy sides while your pork chops are cooking.

One of the best things about pork chops is that they go well with a wide range of delicious side dishes. From starchy sides like mashed potatoes and rice to fresh and colorful vegetables like roasted asparagus and sautéed spinach, there are many options to choose from.
Some of the best side dishes are some of the easiest recipes to make. Here are a variety of side dishes to get you started:
Pork Chop Toppings
Let’s start by keeping it simple. Have you ever had a pork chop topped with sour cream and fried onions? It sounds so simple, but it is such a tasty combination! Caramelized onions are one of the best ways to elevate a traditional pork chop (well, any dish) and add some extra flavor. And well, there’s a reason there’s a whole song about a “dollop of Daisy!”
Some of our other favorite Pork Chop Toppings are:
- A Squeeze of Fresh Lemon Juice and a sprinkling of Fresh Parsley
- Parmesan Cheese
- Applesauce (I love to add lemon zest to my apple sauce with pork chops! It is so tasty!)
Applesauce
If you grew up watching the Brady Bunch as I did, you immediately think of serving pork chops and applesauce.
A perfectly cooked pork chop with caramelized onions is delicious with a side of homemade applesauce and makes a quick weeknight dinner.
Potato Side Dishes for Pork Chops
Mashed Potatoes
Mashed potatoes are such a classic side dish that pairs really well with pork chops. They’re creamy and comforting, and they’re a great way to soak up those flavorful pork juices that end up pooling on your plate.
You can make mashed potatoes as simple or as fancy as you want, adding herbs, spices, or even some cheese to the mix. (Always add the cheese.)
Rice Side Dishes
Rice is another delicious side dish that goes well with pork chops. Whether you choose white rice, brown rice, wild rice, or even rice pilaf, it’s a great way to add a delicious and starchy side dish.
You can cook the rice according to the package instructions, or you can get creative and add some herbs, spices, or vegetables to the mix. You can also make a cold Quinoa Veggie Salad.

Easy Salad Side Dishes
If you want to keep your sides simple, you can also make a side salad, coleslaw, or pasta salad as well. Here are some of our favorite salads:

Southern Coleslaw
Cowboy Caviar
Potato Salad
Potato salad is another great summer side dish and salad, so serve it with pork chops – especially if you are making barbeque pork chops. Juicy chops smothered in bbq sauce with a side of southern potato salad are a perfect choice for a summer pork chop dinner.
Easy Vegetable Side Dishes
Some of the best sides are also the easiest to make. We love easy vegetable sides cooked in the oven, slow cooker, or air fryer. (Honestly, sometimes frozen veggies cooked in the microwave work in a pinch too!)
Roasted Vegetables
Roasted vegetables are a delicious and healthy option to add some color and flavor to your pork chop meal. Try roasting a mix of carrots, parsnips, and red onions, and toss them with some olive oil, salt, and pepper before roasting them in the oven. The roasting process will bring out their natural sweetness and make them crispy and delicious. Top the veggies with a little parmesan cheese before serving.
Sautéed Spinach
Sautéed spinach is another tasty and healthy side dish that goes well with pork chops. Simply heat some olive oil in a pan, add some minced garlic, and then toss in a big handful of fresh spinach. Cook the spinach until it’s wilted, and then season it with salt, pepper, and a squeeze of lemon juice. This is a great way to use simple ingredients to make a tasty side dish.
Southern Style Green Beans
Southern Style Green Beans are a great side dish to serve with juicy pork chops. You can make them in an Instant Pot or in a slow cooker with minimal effort. They are so easy to make and are so flavorful.
Corn on the Cob
Corn on the cob is a summertime favorite that goes well with pork chops. You can easily make corn in an Instant Pot to make an easy side dish, or you can make them on the stove if you don’t have an Instant Pot.
Simply boil the corn in a pot of salted water for a few minutes and then serve it with some melted butter and a sprinkle of salt. You can also grill the corn for a smoky and flavorful twist.
If corn is not in season, you can also open a can of corn and make Jiffy Corn Pudding with some cheddar cheese and pickled jalapenos – it is one of our favorite side dishes!

French Fries
Okay, I know they are not traditionally the healthiest of side dishes, but if you make your own in the oven, they are just roasted potatoes!
There are so many different ways to make french fries – potato wedges, oven-baked fries, sweet potato fries, or shoestring fries – but they are all a perfect side dish for a barbecue pork chop.
Roasted potatoes are also a popular choice – especially drizzled with butter. I love to make fries in an air fryer while my pork chops are cooking.
Roasted Potatoes
Potato skins, while a little more time-consuming, are also a great side dish to serve with pork chops. Everyone always raves about this recipe!

Salted Potatoes
Casseroles
Everyone loves a good casserole. Sometimes I like to make casseroles ahead of time to pop in the oven on a busy weeknight to serve with my favorite pork chop recipes. All kinds of casseroles go great with delicious pork chops, and they make such easy sides because you can prepare them ahead of time.
I love a good Green Bean Casserole, Broccoli Casserole, and Corn Casserole, and my favorite casserole is Sweet Potato Casserole loaded with sweet potatoes and a delicious brown sugar, oat, and pecan topping.

Southern Side Dishes
Fried Pork Chops are a Southern staple – the breading is crispy and crunchy on the outside while the pork is juicy on the inside – and they are often served with Red Beans & Rice and Southern Potato Salad.
A side of Southern Cornbread or a fluffy dinner roll makes it the perfect meal – your taste buds will be singing.
These are just a few ideas, and of course, they are some of my favorite sides, but there are many other side dishes you can serve with pork chops. The important thing is to choose sides that you enjoy, and that complement the flavors in the pork chops.
